Team Climate Assessment

“How safe, accepted, and included do each we feel in this team?”

“How are we each contributing to short- and long-term success of this team?”

The Team Climate Assessment asks these two fundamental questions through a research-based questionnaire completed by each team member. It is in part informed by Dr. Amy Edmonson's work on psychological safety, along with a large body of research on teams and diversity.

The Top Half

The top half of the graph answers the question “How well are team members contributing to the short- and long-term success of the team?”

Each team member is asked about their own behavior and engagement with the team in four areas:

Active Learning

Purposeful Contribution

Boundary Expansion

Belongingness

Team Climate Assessment®

A team's climate is a system-level representation of the similarities and differences in team members' experience within the team. Team members who are well integrated and contributing at their maximum are in the "green zone" closest to center. Team members who feel highly marginalized and do/can not contribute at their best are in the outmost "grey zone" at the edge. A healthy team climate will have a far larger green zone than blue and grey zones.

Differences in experience and perception within a team reveal a great deal about a team's overall experience and engagement level. Highly diverging experiences and engagement can also have implications on a team’s overall utilization of potential and effectiveness.

The Bottom Half

The bottom half of the graph answers the question “How safe, accepted, and included do team members feel?”

Each team member is asked about their own experience with the team in four areas:

Risk and Problem

Acceptance

Authenticity Acceptance

Mutual Trust

Inclusion and Validation
